Vans’ New Collab Is Part Skate And Part Savile Row

by MR Magazine Staff

On the wide spectrum of menswear, Vans and Saville Row don’t seem like they could be much further apart. Vans is pure California skater, offering footwear that’s just inexpensive enough to be disposable to folks who plan to kick the shit out of them. Meanwhile, Savile Row makes clothing that’s meant to last a lifetime, if not generations (as long as it’s properly cared for). But in recent days, the worlds of high and low fashion have blended in a kind of punk radicalization of style. We see it all over the market, from Kim Jones’ work with Nike to Balmain’s collaboration with H&M. But this week it comes home to Vans in a three-way collab between the sneaker brand, UK-based retailer Offspring, and British designer Rav Matharu of Clothsurgeon. The trio is offering a duo of sneakers available exclusively through Offspring stores and Selfridges, the high-end department store. See more at Esquire.
