TURNBULL & ASSER REINVENTS THE MAC JACKET

by Stephen Garner

Turnbull & Asser MacBritish menswear label Turnbull & Asser has unveiled its new Flordon Mac jacket, a reinvention of the iconic mackintosh style jacket originally introduced in the 1800’s. A key item during Britian’s rainy days, Turnbull & Asser’s new mac jacket respects the functional silhouette of classic macs but offers a unique coated linen composition as a point of difference.

“I wanted to create a piece that is lightweight, packable, but most essentially different from the sea of beige, black and navy offerings that already exist,” said Dean Gomilsek-Cole, head designer at Turnbull & Asser.

Gomilsek-Cole worked with the brand’s Italian fabric mill to add a waterproof, technical coating to the back of one of many exclusive Turnbull & Asser cloths; a micro puppytooth pattern made of 100 percent linen. The result is a cloth that maintains its lightweight properties but is now waterproof and sturdy enough to make into a reliable piece of outerwear.

This new packable staple can easily be thrown into luggage for just-in-case scenarios, and is available in a subtle navy-on-navy and blue puppystooth pattern.

Now walking in the rain doesn’t seem so bad.
