Three Fairchild Trade Pubs on the Block

NEW YORK – Condé Nast Publications said Thursday that it is exploring the sale of three of its trade titles – Supermarket News, Home Furnishings News and InFurniture. All three were acquired by CNP when it bought Fairchild Publications in 1999.

“While each of these properties plays a leading role in the markets they serve, they reflect areas of business-to-business publishing that are not key to our core mission,” Mitch Fox, group president and publishing director with responsibility for Fairchild, said in a statement. “Until such time as a sale is made, we will continue to operate with the same level of rigor and diligence with which we approach the business today.’

CNP indicated that the Fairchild Fashion Group – comprised of WWD, DNR, Footwear News, Books and Summits – “remains a key component of the company’s long-term business strategy.”
