SATURDAYS NYC RELEASES COLLABORATION WITH PHOTOGRAPHER JIRO KONAMI
Saturdays NYC has teamed up with celebrated Japanese photographer Jiro Konami on an exclusive capsule of two graphic T-shirts featuring prints exclusive to Saturdays from Konami’s “Tokyo. New York” series.
The T-shirts are $65 each and will be sold exclusively at Saturdays NYC’s Crosby street location and online.
“A year has passed since I moved from Tokyo to NY and my eyes changed a bit,” said Konami. “I became more sensitive to the concept of time and everything felt new to me. I spent more time analyzing the use of colors and I was looking for more meaning when shooting- the journey, the scenery and to find new landscapes.”
“We met Jiro in Japan a couple years ago through a good friend Kun,” added Colin Tunstall, co-founder of Saturdays NYC. “Having been a fan of his photography for a while, it was great to hear that he had just moved to New York and that we were actually living in the same neighborhood of Brooklyn. After working on an exhibition together in Japan that showcased his NYC photos, we wanted to highlight the opposite body of work and show his Tokyo photos in our home city. He’s super talented and we are excited to see his collection of work grow.”
