Laureno O. “Larry” Garmany, the founder of specialty retailer Garmany in Red Bank, N.J., died suddenly on Saturday at age 62 at The Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Here is how the store shared the news his death on its website and Facebook page:

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Garmany, founder of Garmany, Red Bank. Larry died suddenly on Saturday. Thankfully, he did not suffer.

As many of you know, other than Larry’s family and friends, he was devoted to the community, and to you, our customers. He made it his personal mission to dress the men and women of New Jersey in fashions that are elegant, tasteful and, above all, stylish.

The family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday at the Holmdel Funeral Home from 4pm-8pm.

The store will close at 5pm on Tuesday, and will reopen on Wednesday at 1:30 pm.”

Garmany was born on December 13, 1952 in Vazquez, Cuba and fled to the U.S. at a young age.

He is survived by his wife Angeles, his son Johnell, his daughter Vanessa, five grandchildren, three sisters and his mother, Blanca Garcia Amado.

Garmany is a past recipient of the MR Uptown/Downtown Awards.
