Scottish born actor Sam Heughan made his first public appearance yesterday as Barbour’s first official Global Brand Ambassador at the brand’s Upper East Side store in Manhattan.

As previously reported by MR, the brand tapped Heughan – star of the hit international TV series Outlander – in July for a two-year deal that encompasses a selected number of photoshoots, PR appearances and working with some of the brand’s key wholesale partners in the UK and U.S.

MR also reported that Heughan will be developing his own signature capsule collection incorporating Barbour’s exclusive tartans, which he briefly touched on at the appearance.

“I’ve never imagined working on developing a clothing line in my life, it has been quite fun,” says Heughan. “I’ve been working with the designers and going through Barbour’s archives to decide what I think works and doesn’t work for this co-branded collection. It will consist of outerwear, knits and wovens for men, and a smaller collection for women to launch for autumn/winter 2017.”

Helen Barbour, vice chairman of J Barbour & Sons Ltd., adds: “Working with Sam has been a lot of fun. He is such a nice guy and he loves the brand, which makes it easy for this collaboration to happen since he gladly wants to be a part of it.”
