Wood UnderwearNorth Carolina-based underwear brand Wood Underwear has appointed industry expert Michael Topliss as head of global sales.

Topliss will lead revenue driving strategies and oversee a variety of sales related functions, including responsibility for expanding and strengthening the Wood sales network. He will also have a hand in the brand’s marketing, merchandising and product development as it relates to driving the business forward.

Prior to joining Wood Underwear, Topliss has mostly recently led North American sales for French underwear brand Pullin. Most notably, he led Saxx Underwear Co. as its General Manager during its formative years.

“Wood is building a strong brand DNA that embraces its uniqueness and also has wide appeal to a variety of consumers,” said Topliss. “There is a culture around the brand that is both palpable and contagious. I am excited to contribute to the company’s continued growth, especially as we enter this exciting chapter.”

Terresa Zimmerman, founder of Wood Underwear, added: “It’s so exciting to have Michael join me in leading Wood. He brings a deep blend of industry experience and proven success, directly relevant to our business. Michael has ‘been there, done that’ so will be able to hit the ground running for us, ensuring we have strong representation at retail. And, importantly, Michael and I are united in our commitment to the success of our store partners as vital to our own success.”

Zimmerman founded the brand in 2012 in Hermosa Beach, California with the goal of making everyday base layers for men. The company also supports causes that promote active outdoor lifestyles.
