by Brian Lipton

John HardyLuxury jewelry brand John Hardy will open its first two retail stores, one in Houston and one in New York City, this fall. The strategic move comes as part of a global brand transformation led by CEO Robert Hanson since L Catterton acquired the company in July 2014.

The John Hardy Houston boutique will be located in the River Oaks District in a 1,000-square –foot corner location, and is scheduled to open in September 2016. The 1,200-square-foot John Hardy boutique in New York City will be at 118 Prince Street in a landmark preservation three-story building from the early 1900s. It is scheduled to open in November 2016.

The company also plans to open additional boutiques across the U.S., focusing on premium retail properties in key luxury markets, and will globally expand its e-commerce platform.

“As we work to grow the John Hardy brand and bring the best luxury jewelry and service to our clients, expansion into retail boutiques in the U.S. is a natural next step,” said Hanson. “John Hardy’s heritage and expertise in artisan handcrafted jewelry rooted in Balinese traditions make for a unique brand story that is best told through owned boutiques. The retail stores will really be a distinctive 3-D articulation of the brand’s powerful design, dramatic detail and inspiring meaning. We also firmly believe that these boutiques will have a positive impact on the sales performance and productivity of our national and independent partners in the wholesale channel because they will increase brand awareness and engagement.”
