Jack Victor Launching David Donahue Tailored
David Donahue, the better men’s furnishings brand, is expanding into tailored clothing with a new collection produced under license by Jack Victor. The collection is expected to be in stores for spring 2014.
“We’ve been in business since 1972 and over the last ten years, we’ve grown from a men’s accessory company to a complete dress furnishings collection and the next logical progression for us is tailored clothing,” Rob Donohue, president of David Donahue, told MR. “We chose Jack Victor based upon their reputation in the marketplace for providing a superior garment in the price point that makes sense with our furnishings line. We’re an affordable luxury product. We give tremendous price/value correlation to both the retailer and the consumer. Jack Victor offers the same type of formula.”
Suits will retail in the $695 to $895 range; sport jackets from $495 to $795; and tuxedos from $795 to $895.
“There’s a real void in the marketplace for a clean label in the updated traditional vein,” added Donohue. “There are a lot of brands out there retooling and repositioning. We get to start this clean and right.”
Bob Donohue founded David Donahue forty years ago as a private label accessory company specializing in cuff links and other men’s jewelry. The company launched branded accessories under its own name in 1998 and Rob Donohue and his sister Suzy began to expand the brand to include dress furnishings. Today the product range includes dress shirts, formal shirts, accessories, neckwear, small leather goods and hosiery. David Donahue is at better department stores and specialty stores.
