Ivy Karkut Promoted at Company 81
NEW YORK – Oved Apparel’s Company 81, a brand with clothing lines focused on young men and boys, has promoted division vice president Ivy Karkut to president.
Karkut has extensive experience in menswear, having launched Tommy Jeans for Tommy Hilfiger and served as senior vice president for Polo Ralph Lauren and vice president of Liz Claiborne’s men’s line.
Under Karkut’s leadership, Company 81 sales have tripled. The brand is sold in 1,600 department stores, including Macy’s.
Karkut will be overseeing some growth in Company 81’s scope: “In addition to young mens and boys 8-20, we are launching boys 4-7 for Spring 08 and for Fall 08, Juniors and Girls,” she said in an e-mail to MR editors. The label may get its own stores following the launch of the juniors and girls lines.
