G-Star Creates Interactive Factory Map

by Harry Sheff

G-Star, the Amsterdam-based premium denim and lifestyle brand, has created an interactive map showing its 27 factories in Europe, North Africa and Asia.

“Our supply chain partners play an important role in reaching our goal to make a strong product in a sustainable way,” the company said in an announcement on its site. “We are proud of the products we manufacture together with our suppliers and of the trustworthy and long-term relationships we have built up with them.”

The map enables consumers to drill down from a global map to each of the six countries G-Star has factories—China (nine factories), India (eight), Bangladesh (five), Vietnam (three), Morocco and Portugal (one each). G-Star details the percentage to total production in each country and offers short profiles of each factory: location, products made, total workforce, ratio of male to female workers and more.

“The Manufacturing Map includes all direct suppliers with whom G-Star has a business relationship for over two years,” the company said. “In total, this includes 27 factories that together cover over 95 percent of G-Star’s production volume. In our online store you are able to see where each product is manufactured by clicking on the ‘produced by’ button.”
