DAVID HART PARTNERS WITH JOHNSTON & MURPHY ON FORMAL SHOE COLLECTION
This past spring, 2015 CFDA Fashion Fund finalist and one of GQ’s 2015 Best New Menswear Designers David Hart began working with classic footwear brand Johnston & Murphy on a collection of formal shoes that have finally launched online.
The new David Hart x Johnston & Murphy collection consists of three styles, which retail at $295, that include a patent leather lace-up and two velvet tassel slippers offered in navy and black.
The shoes, which made their debut during Hart’s fall/winter 2016 presentation at New York Men’s Day this past February, take inspiration from original shoes Johnston & Murphy produced in the 1950s and 1960s. Each pair is updated from the original archived piece with Hart’s signature touch to modern menswear.
“The DHXJM collection is a staple every guy needs in his wardrobe as black tie dressing has entered the scene and is here to stay,” Hart tells MR. “Men have become increasingly more cultured, having more and more events to attend and owning the right shoes for formal events is key. The collaboration brings about a classic and timeless shoe that will last for years to come, pairing well with any formal attire.”
