The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) together with Suntchi (Shanghai) Brand & Technology Co., Ltd and in association with Alibaba Group’s Tmall have all announced Tmall China Day during New York Fashion Week: Men’s (NYFW: Men’s), which will bring some of China’s most exciting designers and brands to the upcoming edition of NYFW: Men’s in February.

In an effort to introduce leading Chinese designers to international markets, the partnership works to build closer connections between the Chinese and American fashion communities. Four featured designers and brands have been hand selected to showcase contemporary Chinese fashions. The participating designers are Li-Ning; Peacebird; Chenpeng; and Clot.

Tmall China Day will feature a number of events throughout NYFW: Men’s including runway shows and presentation from participating designers at Skylight Modern in three time slots on February 7; and an exclusive space at Skylight Modern dedicated to showcasing the group presentation and the China Day concept from February 5-7.

Additionally, an exclusive showroom will be set up especially for buyers and media during this time.

The runway shows will be recorded and broadcasted to millions of shoppers the next day through the “See Now, Buy Now” format. Most pieces that are launched by Tmall China Day designers will be available on Tmall immediately following the show.

The CFDA and Suntchi inked a five-year partnership in 2017, creating the first gateway connecting China’s premier business network and marketing giant’s branding platform with U.S. based fashion brands and designers. Tmall is the exclusive Chinese e-commerce strategic partner for NYFW: Men’s and the partnership aims at promoting greater exchange and integration between the fashion industries in the U.S. and China.

“China Day allows us to further expand the scope of NYFW: Men’s by showcasing the most exciting Chinese fashion talent to the American fashion community,” said Steven Kolb, president and CEO of the CFDA. “The initiative is part of CFDA’s overall strategy to build international ties, which will, in turn, help us strengthen the impact of American fashion globally. We thank Suntchi and Tmall for their support in making Tmall China Day happen.”

“We are proud to work with CFDA and Suntchi to make Tmall China Day a reality at NYFW: Men’s. Our goal is to foster up-and-coming Chinese designers and help them get more international exposure, as well as showcase established Chinese brands and help them expand their global growth channels,” added Jessica Liu, president of Tmall Fashion. “As the leading B2C e-commerce platform in China with over 500 million active users, Alibaba empowers brands with the consumer insights and technology needed to grow their businesses globally. We look forward to working closely with CFDA and Suntchi to make Tmall China Day a success this February.”
