Byers Promoted in Bon-Ton Reorganization

NEW YORK – Stephen Byers has been promoted to vice chairman with responsibility for stores, operations, private brand, merchandise planning and allocation and Internet merchandising in a reorganization of senior management at The Bon-Ton Stores, the 278-unit departments store group based in York, Pa.

Additionally, Anthony Buccina, vice chairman and president of merchandising, has assumed responsibility for marketing and sales promotion, and James Zamberlan has been promoted to executive vice president, stores and visual merchandising.

Byers, who continues to report to Byron (Bud) Bergren, president and chief executive officer of the company, was previously executive vice president of stores and visual merchandising at Carson Pirie Scott, now part of Bon-Ton.

Zamberlan was previously executive vice president of stores and visual merchandising at Bon-Ton.

David Zant continues as vice chairman of private brand, planning and allocation, and Internet merchandising, and Edward Carroll Jr. continues as executive vice president of sales promotion and marketing.

Bergren commented in a press release, “I am extremely pleased that the management committee has accepted these responsibilities as we continue to refine and strengthen the company’s team in order to realize our plans for future growth and profitability.”
