Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom to Anchor New Mall in Norwalk, Conn.

Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom have announced that they will anchor a new 700,000 sq. ft. shopping mall in Norwalk, Conn. Being developed by General Growth Properties. The mall, in the Reed Putnam Urban Renewal area, is scheduled to open in fall 2018.

The Bloomingdale’s store, 150,000 sq. ft. on three levels, is expected to employ about 200 people.

“This spectacular new shopping center will be a distinctive and upscale destination for Fairfield County and surrounding areas, prominently positioned at I-95 and Highway 7,” said Bloomingdale’s CEO Tony Spring. “Our new store will offer an exciting fashion environment and a modern service experience to build upon our strong base of loyal omni-channel customers in the Northeast.”

The Nordstrom store, also 150,000 sq. ft. on three levels, will be the retailer’s second full-line Nordstrom store in Connecticut.

“We’re glad we have an opportunity to serve our existing Fairfield County customers closer to home as well as customers new to Nordstrom in a compelling, new retail destination,” said president of stores Jamie Nordstrom. “GGP is a terrific partner and we are excited to be a part of this new regional shopping center.”

Nordstrom operates 116 full-line stores and 167 Nordstrom Rack off-price stores in the U.S.

Bloomingdale’s currently operates 37 full-line stores in the U.S. and is opening new locations in Honolulu, Miami and San Jose this year. There are also 13 Bloomingdale’s outlet stores.
