Beware These Common Seersucker Suit Mistakes

by MR Magazine Staff

Of all the statement suits in the menswear canon—the swerve-y check, the office pinstripe, the black-tie tux—the seersucker suit is the one that’s easiest to get wrong. First of all, the puckered cotton fabric doesn’t usually have a ton of interior structure, meaning if you don’t nail the tailoring, you’ll look sloppy no matter what. Plus, seersucker fabric usually comes in light colors, which makes styling them tricky. And the one mistake more than most guys make is wearing one with a white shirt and a dark tie. The net effect is that you look more like Colonel Sanders than just damn stylish. Johnny Knoxville is the latest victim of this all-too-common misstep (and it doesn’t help that he wears black-frame glasses just like the Colonel). See more at GQ.
