A Novel Idea

by Elise Diamantini

This has been a whirlwind of a week (and it’s not over yet!). One take-away from the New York market is that woven shirts are a key category for spring 2011. And in the contemporary market, it’s all about doing it a little differently. We’ve overdosed on plaid, and although it’s not going away anytime soon, why not show some novelty, too? I saw a lot of these mixed media woven shirts in New York and it might be a trend to look out for in Vegas. Here are a few of my faves:

Riviera Club: These guys have got Cali cool in their blood. Wovens in their collection are super soft with a washed out look and retail from $150 to $160.

Without Prejudice: Brand new to the U.S. for spring 2011, Leon Soulsby describes the brand as “The Hugo Boss of the U.K.” Wovens are trimmer with a Savile Row shoulder and wholesale from $57 to $77.

Sunny Sports: This Japanese brand sells at U.S. stores like Opening Ceremony, Douglas Fir and Fred Segal. Wovens wholesale for $95.
